Danish photographer Peter Westh was born and raised in Copenhagen. His practice is informed and influenced by notable Scandinavian arts and literature luminaries such as Arne Jacobsen, Carl Theodor Dreyer, Soren Kierkegaard, Jorn Utzon, Lars Von Trier and Hans Christian Andersen.
Peter’s stellar career as a fine art photographer is grounded in his early years as a fashion photographer in Copenhagen, commissioned by major fashion houses and modelling agencies worldwide for international editorial shoots on behalf of many of the world’s leading lifestyle magazines including Vogue USA, Vogue China, Harper’s Bazaar, Vanity Fair and Elle.
The dramatic light of the Northern Hemisphere has always been an Inspiration to Peter and Is one of the main components of the compositional vision in which he presents his latest oeuvre of painted photographs. The combination of applying paint on photography, both landscape and figurative, displays a deftness of touch alongside an instinctive understanding of compositional minimalism and dramatic light that is fundamentally Scandinavian to the core.
